Jarett's 1000+whp, 8 second Firebird aka "Firechicken"
Jarett's 2001 Firebird, aka the "Firechicken" is not a car to be taken lightly. Starting life as a 3.8L v6 car, It has gone through many different iterations. The original, stock shortblock v6 had various turbo set-ups from a Gt35, to an On3 70mm, to a Holset Hx40, all while living at 20+psi for most of its life.
After putting up 1000+whp numbers on the stock bottom end 5.3, Jarett decided to take the next step: a BoostX forged 6.0L shortblock. While still utilizing the proven Firechicken v1 camshaft, the shortblock consists of a stock crankshaft, TSP H-beam rods, and Summit forged pistons and standard ARP head studs keep the stock casting 317 heads down.
He also stepped up the fuel and air departments by switching to E85 and stepping up from the proven VSR billet 85mm T4 to a VSR billet 92mm with a 1.32 T6 housing.
For this season, Jarett decided to move from the 275 M/T ET Streets, to a Hoosier C07 28x10.5 slick, still being fed the power through a Bubba Ginn converter, a BoostX built Powerglide, and a 9" rear end.
All this has netted mid 8's in the 1/4mile at low 20's psi for boost, all while maintaining power windows, full oem glass (including T-tops), onboard air, and a 3600+lb curb weight.
Definately keep an eye out for this winter's turbo kit revision and 30+psi numbers
